Abstract

The first application of the electromagnetic methods with hydrogeological goal in Costa Rica is described. This has been carried out with the purpose of obtaining information on the conceptual model, the extension of the saline intrusion, as well as to complete some parameters for obtaining the index of intrinsic vulnerability in Tamarindo. For it, they were carried out six electromagnetic profiles in the domain of the frequencies (FDEM) and sixteen electromagnetic sounding in the domain of the time (TDEM). The power of resolution of the equipment, the easy application in the field and the advantages in the interpretation programs, make these methods a tool of great utility for the evaluation and characterization of the coastal aquifers in Costa Rica.
