Abstract

In this work groundwater pollution risk is evaluated as the first measure for the establishment of safeguard zones of the groundwater bodies destined for human consumption. To do this, we have split of the map of dangerousness of the human activities existing and of the cartography of intrinsic vulnerability of these carbonate aquifers of Cañete Mountain Range

The methodology used to determine the risk of pollution is as indicated by the COST Action 620 developed for the protection of the waters of the karstic aquifers, though the vulnerability obtained by means of the method PI has changed, for the realized one for the method COP due to the fact that the latter has been the used by the Spanish state to determine the vulnerability of the carbonate aquifers of all the intercommunal basins of the national territory. This has motivated the proposal of a few new intervals of the different types of risk approriate to this methodology.

The chemical analyses carried out in a control network of the chemical quality of the groundwater seem to indicate the existence of pollution only in a sector of the investigated aquifers ones what can be at first coherent with the results obtained of the risk analysis.
