Cokriging is the multivariate geostatistical estimator that has also been used for estimating spatial factors (factorial cokriging) and for estimating the local distribution function (indicator cokriging). Nevertheless, we show here the flexibility that cokriging offers by reviewing four new applications: (i) downscaling cokriging for image sharpening in remote sensing; (ii) cokriging as a solution to the inverse problem in hydrogeology; (iii) cokriging for estimating directional derivatives; and (iv) cokriging interpolation taking into account boundary conditions. The different applications are illustrated with data from the Vega de Granada aquifer in southern Spain.
