Características geológico-geotécnicas de depósitos cuaternarios tipo loess (depósitos de Brickearth) en el área de Ospringe (Faversham, Kent, UK)

Se presentan los resultados geotécnicos obtenidos a partir de ensayos de identificación y consolidación en muestras de suelos de los depósitos cuaternarios recientes denominados brickearth. Estos constituyen la cobertera cuaternaria asociada a la última etapa de periglaciación en Europa, y yacen discordantes sobre el Terciario. Presentan características similares a los depósitos tipo loess y comparables a los encontrados en otras partes del mundo. Los principales resultados del ensayo edométrico en estos suelos indican que son colapsables y pueden dar lugar a asentamientos diferenciales de entre 4,3 y 5,5 cm.
